LGBTQI+ Inclusion in Sports
Cycling – on the Path for Representation
Philippa Ryder, Director of Under The Rainbow takes us through her journey with cycling spanning 15 years. Philippa had the honour of representing Team Ireland at the Paris Gay Games in 2018 where she won a number of medals. This achievement recognises the ability and passion of Ireland’s LGBTQI+ athletes in sport.
Following the success of the tournament, Philippa was part of establishing Sporting Pride, Ireland’s LGBTQI+ sports organisation. She now works with diversity and inclusion social enterprise Under The Rainbow to advocate for Human Rights, Equality, Health and Wellness.
Philippa recommends for everyone to take up cycling as she believes it is beneficial for both your mental and physical health while also being fun.
