Phase 1 of this Guide provides information, guidance and advice for hiring managers on how employers can implement practical solutions to ensure that underrepresented people experience fair and equal opportunities, and subsequently that employers can begin to build better diversity and inclusion. The Guide has been crafted and informed by lived experiences of people in the workplace in Ireland.

In early 2020, the DCU Centre of Excellence for D&I developed a Race Equality Hub which can be found here and includes recommendations for enhancing race equality in the workplace. The Hub was created in collaboration with the African Scholars Association of Ireland (AfSI) and supported by Ibec, Business in the Community Ireland (BITC) and the Irish Centre for Diversity and sponsored by Bank of Ireland.

The establishment of Dublin City University’s Race Advisory Council ensures that we continue to drive the agenda forward for underrepresented groups in the workplace in Ireland. Our intention is for the Council to meet on a regular basis in 2021, and they will inform the direction and development of a series of supports and strategies to enhance race equality in the workplace in Ireland.

During our event the panel will discuss the necessity of race equality in the workplace and evaluate what positive actions are being undertaken to combat racial discrimination.
